¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!

Welcome to my page! There are many benefits to learning a second language, and I'm so excited to share this year with you!

  • Assignments given a week's notice may not be turned in late.
  • Anything that students have had 1 week or more to do, such as Duolingo are equivalent to projects and shall not be accepted late for credit.
  • Journals may NOT be turned in late.
  • Students can turn in work early? - ¡Sí!

Digital assignment policy
  • Digital assignments must be turned in to Google Classroom NO LATER than 8AM on due date.
  • Anything later than 8AM will be subject to the late homework policy.
  • Unsubmitted assignments will be subject to the late homework policy.

What is considered a digital assignment?
  • As a general rule: anything with a Google turn-in.

If I'm turning in a physical copy of an assignment, do I still need to turn it in by 8am?
  • Sí. Either a physical copy in 302 before 8am, or a digital photo uploaded before 8am.

Where can I find assignments?
  • Major assignments are posted on the board, Google Classroom, and the VMA Spanish class website (via Google Calendar).
  • All quiz and test dates are posted on the Google Classroom calendar and linked to the VMA Spanish class website. See individual class tab for Google Calendar.

Device policy
  • Devices must be closed once the bell has rung and not in use without permission from the teacher.
  • Will result in a full reduction of daily participation if open.
  • If typing notes-digital notes must be shown to the teacher at the end of the class period.
  • Work placed into a translator/bot is considered cheating as work is no longer in student's own words and will result in a 0 and detention per handbook policy.

What should journals look like?
  • Handwritten in PENCIL in their original notebook (other than the one used for class notes).  Typewritten journals are NOT accepted.
  • 7th Spanish: 2-4 sentences in Spanish about anything. Use known vocab, so Spanglish if needed. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
  • SPA2: 3-5 sentences in Spanish about anything. Use known vocab, so Spanglish if needed. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
  • SPA3H: 5-7 sentences entirely in Spanish. Use known vocab. I am judging grammar, so I'm always happy to preview journals. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
  • Anything exceeding what has been taught in class will require justification via a conversation with Sra. Hollin.
  • Vocab journals will be kept in the classroom for reference when writing journal entries.
  • Loose-leaf journals, including ones stapled or taped into the original journal will result in a 0.

There will be a written and spoken Hail Mary every quarter.

Will there be food projects or fiestas?

Pen or pencil?
  • Pencil is required on tests and journals.
  • Pen or typewritten classwork is ok.

How are bonus points applied?
  • First, bonus points will be added to the # of questions wrong, then as an extra.
  • 0 in a bonus column does not affect your grade.

What's the rubric for participation points?
  • See below
