High School Math

This is my eighth year teaching at Villa Madonna Academy. I am very excited for the new school year!

The classes I will be teaching this year are:

    • Algebra 1
    • Algebra 2
    • PreCalculus Honors

I will be using Google Classroom https://classroom.google.com to post assignments and other announcements for the class. Here are the class codes for you to join:

    • Algebra 1: ze6cvet
    • Algebra 2: mizx47w
    • PreCalculus Honors: k2sisng

Here is an overview of what each class will learn during the year:

Algebra 1:

The course teaches the basic foundations of Algebra required for further study in mathematics. Specific topics include expressions, equations, inequalities, relations, and functions, analyzing linear equations, graphing, linear systems, polynomials, factoring, quadratic functions and equations, radical expressions, radical equations, and triangles.

Algebra 2:

The course builds upon fundamentals learned in Algebra 1. Algebraic concepts are explored and analyzed verbally, numerically, graphically, and symbolically. Specific topics covered include equations and inequalities, linear relations and functions, systems of equations, matrices, polynomial functions, rational functions, quadratic functions, radical expressions and equations, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, exponential and logarithmic functions, and trigonometry.

PreCalculus Honors:

Students will be able to discover and analyze algebraic, graphical and numeric characteristics of linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions in order to create and interpret mathematical models of real world phenomena. Student will also explore other topics such as polar coordinates, combinatory and probability. While many of these topics have been covered in previous math courses, this course will cover them in greater detail and depth and focus more on the analysis of the algebraic concepts. Students taking PreCalculus Honors should have an exceptional understanding of mathematics and be willing to move at a fast pace as this course is designed to prepare a student for college calculus.

Thank you for visiting my page!! I am looking forward to working with the Villa community!
