Sra. Hollin and her daughter, Adaline love Bluey!
All of Sra. Hollin's pets are named after famous people: Freddie Mercury and Rocky Dwayne. *Check out their photos in the Virtual Classroom.*
Sra. Hollin's birthday is 11/11 and her husband's is 12/12. Adaline's is 10/22/22.
Sra. Hollin's favorite holidays are Halloween and Día de los Muertos.
Sra. Hollin loves Gordon Ramsay and even met the head chef of his restaurant in Las Vegas.
Sra. Hollin is currently learning Portuguese, Irish, Arabic, Japanese and High Valyrian on Duolingo.

FAQs
Late Homework Policy
- Late assignments may be turned in for a 50% deduction per day late.
- Assignments given a week's notice may not be turned in late.
- Anything that students have had 1 week or more to do, such as Duolingo are equivalent to projects and shall not be accepted late for credit.
- Journals may NOT be turned in late.
- Students can turn in work early? - ¡Sí!
Digital assignment policy
- Digital assignments must be turned in to Google Classroom NO LATER than 8AM on due date.
- Anything later than 8AM will be subject to the late homework policy.
- Unsubmitted assignments will be subject to the late homework policy.
What is considered a digital assignment?
- As a general rule: anything with a Google turn-in.
If I'm turning in a physical copy of an assignment, do I still need to turn it in by 8am?
- Sí. Either a physical copy in 302 before 8am, or a digital photo uploaded before 8am.
Where can I find assignments?
- Major assignments are posted on the board, Google Classroom, and the VMA Spanish class website (via Google Calendar).
- All quiz and test dates are posted on the Google Classroom calendar and linked to the VMA Spanish class website. See individual class tab for Google Calendar.
Device policy
- Devices must be closed once the bell has rung and not in use without permission from the teacher.
- Will result in a full reduction of daily participation if open.
- If typing notes-digital notes must be shown to the teacher at the end of the class period.
- Work placed into a translator/bot is considered cheating as work is no longer in student's own words and will result in a 0 and detention per handbook policy.
What should journals look like?
- Handwritten in PENCIL in their original notebook (other than the one used for class notes). Typewritten journals are NOT accepted.
- 7th Spanish: 2-4 sentences in Spanish about anything. Use known vocab, so Spanglish if needed. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
- SPA2: 3-5 sentences in Spanish about anything. Use known vocab, so Spanglish if needed. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
- SPA3H: 5-7 sentences entirely in Spanish. Use known vocab. I am judging grammar, so I'm always happy to preview journals. Note new vocab used, -5/entry if not noted.
- Anything exceeding what has been taught in class will require justification via a conversation with Sra. Hollin.
- Vocab journals will be kept in the classroom for reference when writing journal entries.
- Loose-leaf journals, including ones stapled or taped into the original journal will result in a 0.
There will be a written and spoken Hail Mary every quarter.
Will there be food projects or fiestas?
- ¡Sí!
- Fiesta Goals are set per quarter.
Pen or pencil?
- Pencil is required on tests and journals.
- Pen or typewritten classwork is ok.
How are bonus points applied?
- First, bonus points will be added to the # of questions wrong, then as an extra.
- 0 in a bonus column does not affect your grade.
